OSHA and NEC
All field work is performed in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Subpart K for electrical safety in construction and applicable National Electrical Code requirements for the installation type and location. OSHA compliance is not a floor. It is the baseline from which project-specific safety planning begins.
NFPA 70E: Electrical Safety in the Workplace
NFPA 70E establishes the requirements for safe work practices when personnel are exposed to electrical hazards. Wikota Electrical Services implements NFPA 70E requirements on every project, including arc-flash risk assessment, selection of appropriate PPE based on incident energy calculations, energized electrical work permit procedures, and LOTO program compliance. Personnel performing energized work are trained to NFPA 70E standards.
AWS D1.1
Projects involving welded installations are executed to AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code requirements. An onsite Certified Welding Inspector is standard for projects where welded connections are part of the electrical installation scope.
NEMA Standards
Equipment enclosure selection, installation, and maintenance follow NEMA standards for the applicable environment. This includes enclosure type selection for indoor, outdoor, wet, and hazardous-area installations, and verification that installed equipment meets the NEMA rating specified for the application.
ISNetworld Prequalification
ISNetworld is a contractor management platform used by major energy owners and operators to prequalify contractors before awarding work. ISNetworld tracks safety performance metrics including total recordable incident rate, days away restricted or transferred rate, and experience modification rate. It also tracks training certifications, insurance documentation, and compliance program status.
Wikota Electrical Services maintains active ISNetworld registration. Clients who require ISNetworld prequalification as a condition of contractor selection can verify Wikota Electrical’s standing directly through the platform.
Drug-Free Workplace
Wikota Electrical Services operates a drug-free workplace program with an 18-panel random testing protocol. Pre-employment testing, random testing throughout the project, and post-incident testing are included in the program. All personnel assigned to client sites are subject to the program requirements.
QA/QC Program
Quality assurance and quality control on Wikota Electrical Services projects is governed by a project quality plan developed at project kickoff. The quality plan defines hold points, inspection and test plan requirements, documentation standards, and nonconformance reporting procedures. Field checklists are completed and retained for each inspectable phase of work. Material certifications and equipment data sheets are collected and included in the project closeout package.

Owners use ISNetworld to confirm that contractors meet their minimum safety and compliance requirements before awarding work. Being registered and in good standing on ISNetworld is a prequalification requirement for most major energy companies, refineries, petrochemical plants, and pipeline operators.
NFPA 70E requires that employers establish an electrical safety program that includes identifying electrical hazards, performing arc-flash risk assessments, establishing an energized electrical work permit process, selecting PPE based on incident energy calculations, and training personnel who work on or near energized equipment. For de-energized work, NFPA 70E requires verification of the de-energized state and LOTO procedures before work begins. The standard applies to any work where a person could be exposed to an electrical hazard.
A Job Safety Analysis identifies the specific hazards associated with a defined work task and the protective measures required to control each hazard. Wikota Electrical Services requires a JSA before every work activity begins. The JSA is completed by the crew supervisor, reviewed with the work crew in the pre-job briefing, and signed by all crew members before work starts. High-hazard activities such as energized work, confined space entry, and elevated work require more detailed JSA documentation and may require additional permit authorizations.
A Certified Welding Inspector verifies that welding work meets the applicable code and project specification requirements. On electrical projects, welded installations include structural steel for cable tray and conduit supports, grounding system connections where exothermic welding is specified, and equipment foundations where welded connections are part of the structural design. The CWI reviews welding procedures, verifies welder qualifications, inspects completed welds, and documents inspection results as part of the project quality record.
